Hi there!

Have you heard that one hacker claimed that he has cracked Verizon's servers and gathered personal information on many users. That guy shared this info on Twitter. Was it real? Is our personal information so vulnerable?

Hello, Todd!

We've seen that tweet and we can tell you a couple of words on that. First, we really think that there was no hack at all and nobody gained access to a customers' personal data on those servers. We think that Verizon's official statement was correct and whole situation is a mistake of some third party marketing firm. You should know that Verizon's servers are well defended and it is not a piece of cake to hack them.

But you should know that if you use the service of this provider some of your personal info may be at risk. You should know that Verizon tweaked its privacy policy and now the company has the right to sell your information to the advertisers, including your approximate coordinates, web browsing history and searches, your interest and hobbies. That information is gathered with the help of an A-GPS system that determines your position with GPS module of your smartphone and triangulates your position between closest cell phone towers. In a matter of fact all the information Verizon shares is aggregated and depesonalized. So it is impossible to determine that that this info is yours.

The company has announced that privacy policy change and most of the users agreed with those new terms. But Verizon Wireless is not the only provider that gathers private data, so we at Jammer-Store Inc. tell to all of our clients to take some security measures. Sometimes you would like to make sure that nobody is able to track you so it will be nice to have a device that is able to help you. I'm talking about A-GPS blocker, that will hide your coordinates from both GPS and cell phone tower triangulation.
