Hello, I live in a quite hard to reach region and the situation with mobile communications here is really poor. We all use Verizon's cell phone signal boosters, to be able to stay in touch with the outer world. But recently I've heard that those devices can be used to spy on me and are able to hack my phone. Is it true, and if it is yes – what can I do about it?

Hello, Dean!

We, at jammer-store.com have heard about the problem with signal boosters and we will try to provide you with as many information as we can. First of all, we have to explain what those cell signal boosters are to our readers, that are not familiar with them. Those, as Verizon calls them, “femtocells” simply boost reception of your mobile phone in the desired are, and may provide various additional services, such as sharing Internet access via Wi-Fi.

And those signal boosters can be used for spying. In a matter of fact, that's not the first time, when Verizon tried to gather personal data on users. A group of independent researchers have discovered that Verizon's signal boosters can be used for gathering traffic, that comes through them and are able to steal personal information from smartphones, including contacts, emails and even photos. Indeed, modern smartphones are really vulnerable.

If you live in hard to reach region – the only option for you are those signal boosters. The good news are that Verizon was informed about that vulnerability and released a patch, to update femtocell's software. So make sure to install it. But who know, how many hidden gaps are in those devices, so to make sure that your private conversations are private – we recommend to use cell phone signal blockers, when you discuss something really sensitive.

Thank you for your question, I hope, I've managed to help.
