Is it possible to shield my house from outside wifi snooping while still allowing wifi traffic INSIDE my home? My wife's laptop, our media streamer, and my cell phone all access our network via wifi. The T-Moile signal is so weak out here that we pretty much can't make a call without my phone being on wifi. I'm running strong encryption (WPA2, extra long key) but ideally I'd like to block anyone within 'x' radius of the outside of the home (i.e. you're not getting anything unless you're on my porch, in which case I have either allowed you or I'm kicking you out). Is this possible? Or is it a pipe dream? |

Hi Sean! Well, you can place WiFi jammers around your house in order to block all external WiFi signals and prevent them from getting into your house. But you will be left without wireless internet access and only YOUR devices like laptops and smartphones will be able to connect with each other. And you will also be forced to use that weak T-Mobile connection to make cell phone calls. Still if you want to have WiFi wireless internet access then the only thing you can do is to hope that your WPA2 encryption will shield your house from outside WiFi snooping. Or you can use WiFi jammers and be sure that no one will be able to snoop on you. In any way, the choice is yours. |
