Hi everyone! I read that GPS system uses many different signals to operate so I am wondering is it really possible to block them all with one GPS jammer? |
Hello Gina! Really, GPS navigation system is using not only one frequency band to operate. In fact, there are five of them used by navigation satellites orbiting our planet. They are called from L1 band to L5 band accordingly. Every L-band uses it own separate frequency to not be mixed with other ones. Detailed explanation of all five bands you can read here. As for jamming the signal of those GPS L-bands, they can't be jammed all at once. The main reason of this is because three of GPS bands are for civil usage and two for military usage. All civil GPS bands jamming device will easily block three civil GPS frequency bands, but military ones are forbidden to be jammed and they are protected well. So the answer to your question would be: yes, it is possible to jam all civil GPS frequency bands with only one GPS jammer, but not the military ones. |
